How to choose a personalized birthday storybook

Start with the child, a photo you have permission to use, and the day you want to give the gift. Here is a practical checklist for parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Decide whether a personalized storybook fits the occasion

A personalized book can be a way to share a story with a child and keep a reminder of their birthday. Choose a theme the child enjoys, then check the sample pages rather than relying on age alone.

  • For a four-year-old, read a few sentences aloud and consider whether you could enjoy the illustrations together.
  • Ask which themes the child likes, such as dinosaurs, the ocean, or birthdays.
  • The character is illustrated from a photo. Check the likeness in the preview before you order.

Ask for permission before using a photo

If you are giving the book to someone else's child, ask the parent or legal guardian for permission to use the photo to create the storybook. Then ask for a recent, clear photo, the name to print in the book, and the child's age.

  • Receiving a photo does not automatically mean you have permission to upload it for book creation.
  • Choose a photo with the face clearly visible and not covered by hands, masks, or sunglasses.
  • If a photo or permission is unavailable, talk to the parent before starting.

Leave time for the printed gift to arrive

The US product is a made-to-order hardcover with a PDF included. Our delivery information states that hardcovers arrive within 10 business days, about two weeks. Allow extra time for a fixed birthday date.

  • Contact support with the date and delivery location before ordering if the celebration is close.
  • The PDF becomes available after the storybook is complete; it is not an instant finished file at checkout.
  • Gift wrapping and gift bags are not listed in the standard package. Ask before ordering if you need them.

Review these details before paying

The free preview shows the cover and opening pages. The remaining pages are created after purchase, so use the preview to check the name, illustrated character, and story style before you commit.

  • Check the spelling of the name and the child's age.
  • Confirm the hardcover and PDF package, final total, and delivery address.
  • Read the cancellation and refund policy before ordering.
  • Save the order details so you can contact support if you need help.
